Documentary Video Production

Long-form, story-led documentary films for NPOs, artists, and organisations - built around a real person's story, not a script.

Start a Project

Documentary work rewards patience over a shot list. The Art of Survival followed South African performing artists adapting through the Covid-19 pandemic, filmed across Cape Town and Johannesburg and premiered on Showmax. Muzukidz Shorty told a young violinist's story for an NPO audience, and For Such a Time as This traced musician Timothy Ehrenreich's journey during lockdown, built around his own words rather than a corporate brief. Each project needed us to earn trust with a real subject first, then find the story in what they actually said and did on camera.

We handle the full pipeline in-house - concept, filming, interviews, and edit - so a documentary stays true to a single point of view from the first sit-down through to final grade, rather than losing its throughline across multiple hands. Where useful we bring in creative direction from the start, but the discipline is the same either way: let the subject's story lead, and build the craft around it rather than the other way round.

Common Questions

Frequently asked

How is documentary different from a brand or corporate film?

Documentary starts with a real person's story rather than a brand message - the edit follows what the subject actually says and does, rather than a predetermined script or shot list.

Do you handle the concept and story development, or just filming?

Both. Our documentary work is generally led from concept through final edit by the same director, so the story stays consistent from the first interview to the final grade.

Can a documentary be produced for a specific platform, like Showmax or YouTube?

Yes - The Art of Survival was produced for and premiered on Showmax. We plan format, length, and pacing around wherever the film is ultimately going to run.
