Soon after the war between Israel and Gaza broke out on 7 October 2023, numerous countries started stating their allegiance with either side. On 11 October, a large number of pro-Palestine South Africans protested outside the US Consulate in Johannesburg, calling for an end to the war and equally importantly, the Israeli occupation of Gaza.

Al Jazeera Plus (AJ+) engaged with us to cover the protest, and Carina Bruwer covered the assignment which included interviewing the organiser as well as protesters on the ground, filming B roll and taking some stills.
